Playground: An innovative tool from WordPress for testing, learning and development

WordPress continues to release innovative tools that help users achieve their goals and become more power users. One of the newest tools is called Playground, a tool designed to make a WordPress website instantly available for testing, learning, and development.

🚀 The official WordPress documentation for Playground offers the following usage options: Try a block, theme, or plugin; build an entire site, save it, host it; test your plugin against many specific versions of WordPress and PHP; embed a real, interactive WordPress site into your training course or tutorial; showcase a plugin or theme on your website; build a native application with WordPress and place it in the App Store; preview pull requests from your repository.

• 📌 There is also a WordPress plugin, Playground By WordPress Contributors, that allows a user to clone their site to a private browser version of Playground.

The WordPress plugin allows the user to create an exact copy of the website in a Playground instance, which the user can use to do things like test the plugin or theme. Any changes made to the Playground instance do not affect the actual website. The cloned site is not uploaded to any cloud service, all data remains private, residing in the user's browser, where it remains until the browser tab is closed.
