Company blogs in Google News: opportunities and prospects

Google News is a service that should be considered as a potential source of traffic for your site. It provides access to a large audience interested in current news. And while "news" is usually associated with news sites, can a company blog appear in Google News? This question was asked at the last Google Office Hours in December 2023.

To which he replied: "I can't speak directly for Google News, as I work on Search, which is a bit separate, but looking at their content policies, I don't see anything specific about company blogs. I'd recommend asking in the News Publisher Help Community. And if you're wondering if your pages are already showing up in Google News, I'd recommend looking at the performance reports in Search Console."

Google News Content Policy

As Mueller correctly pointed out, there is nothing specific about company blogs in Google News' policy. However, those who want to contribute to Google News, including company blogs, should read the content policy, as there are useful guidelines.

"Clear dates and signatures of authors. Information about authors, publication and publisher. Information about the company or network behind the content. Contact information."

🚀 But is that enough to get a company blog on Google News? It is possible to get into Google News by passively publishing news content on the company's blog. The Google Publisher Center help page states that Google can automatically detect news content. However, it can be helpful to be more proactive by visiting the Google Publisher Center where you can submit URLs for consideration for inclusion in Google News.
