Recovering YouTube brand: a new shade of red within the 20th anniversary of the platform

The first and most noticeable change is the color itself. YouTube replaced its traditional red with a new gradient from red to purple. This was done not only to refresh the platform, but also to make the color brighter and more attractive.
Another important reason for the change was to improve color reproduction. YouTube realized that old red did not always look good on all screens. The implementation of the gradient helped make the color more adaptive to different devices and screens.
- 📌 The gradient from red to purple is not only a design solution, but also a conscious choice that shows movement forward and development.
- 📌 YouTube wanted red to be well played on all devices, and the gradient allowed to achieve more consistency.
- 📌 The updated design does not fully rebuild the experience of YouTube, but only refines what is already working.
For designers, YouTube updates are a great reminder that the design is always evolving. Sometimes it is about working on reasonable, strategic changes that improve your overall experience.
