When friction is good: Designing sustainable e -commercial experiences

In today's world, when the luxurious lives of influential persons, showing wealth and big purchases dominate social media, it is not surprising that excessive consumption has become a common way of life. Consumption is more than a cultural trend; This is the basis of our economic system. Companies are actively encouraging excessive consumption as increasing sales is related to increasing profits.
🧠 However, we must remember the huge environmental impact that goes with it. Obsession with the latest technological gadgets prompts open ore extraction of precious minerals. Demand for rubber continues to devastate tropical forests. The transformation of these and other raw materials into the final products releases one fifth of all carbon emissions.
🚀 Scientists call for a decrease in material consumption to avoid the worst of climate change in the coming years. This need to reduce consumption is also reflected in the purposes of sustainable development of the UN, in particular for the purpose of 17, "ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns".
- 📌 Design has a problem with excessive simplification of the purchase process that drives users to impulsive solutions.
- 📌 Designers have great power over users through their knowledge of psychology, the ability to form users and create the environment in which they make decisions.
- 📌 Design ability to serve sustainable goals and create a constant e-commerce is a need to achieve a sustainable future.
